Aircraft Mechanic
The position requires proficiency in the setup, adjustment, troubleshooting, and maintenance of such grinder equipment. These skills will be used to repair and restore precision aircraft components to their original or properly altered condition. Typical parts are made from various steels and high-temperature alloys, have size and location tolerances ranging from .002 to .0002 inches, have surface finish requirements ranging from 32 to 4 RMS, and have complex geometry and alignment requirements.
In this position, your main responsibilities and duties are:
- Setup, operate, and maintain a universal OD/ID grinder and jig grinder
- Design and build suitable part holding and alignment fixtures
- Indicate parts to ensure proper location and orientation
- Grind parts to remove coatings and/or damage
- Grind coated parts to restore them to original specifications iaw provided technical documentation
- Read, interpret and apply GD&T (ASME Y14.5M-1994) fundamentals
- Clean and prep parts for thermal spray
- Operate manual lathes, vertical mills, and standard machine shop equipment as required
- Other duties as assigned
